If you live in a dry climate, then a little bit of moss on the surface of your pots is a great help to help keep the base of the orchid protected from dry air. New orchid roots can get to the media faster without drying out before they reach it. However, moss will grow, and grow and grow and slowly encroach on the rhizome of your orchids which, when the base is thin and delicate, as is the case with my Laelia Amethyst, invites rot to set it quickly. Grooming the base of your orchid's rhizome has to be part of the maintenance and care routine! To be on the safe side 👍🏼 #repot #plants #roots #tips #beginners
