Lismore artists make art 4 change: filmmakers, actors, arts facilitators, visual artists and musicians were invited to attend an intimate gathering honoring Truth Tellers and Whistlebowers, David McBride, Julian Assange's father John Shipton and filmmaker Benjamin Gilmour.

If the Consent for War can be Manufactured, then we will create the mandate for Peace - in our case, through Art.

The Film 'Jirga', written and directed by Benjamin Gilmour, explores the 'moral injury' encountered when soldiers realize they have been sent to fight an unjust war, something David McBride often talks about. Jirga tells the story of a soldier seeking forgiveness from the family of a man he killed while serving in the war.and combatants the moral injury

Benjamin spoke of having his eyes opened while he was shooting the film 'Jirga' in Afghanistan, to the Brutalities inflicted on Tribal Afghan people from Occupying Western Forces. Followed by John Shipton talking on the suppression of real voices and control of the 'Logos' or 'rational discourse', and how do we keep sharing Truth in the face of suppression.

David McBride, the ex ADF Lawyer who reported 39 war crimes committed by ADF personnel, which he reported to the chain of command only to have it swept under the carpet, spoke candidly on preparing for his trial and potential Life Imprisonment, and the need to keep a positive, happy and joyful disposition in spite of it.

Great speeches here and well done to everyone that helped bring this together, Unity through Truth Telling is a sobering, yet joyful gathering and vital to our survival.
