Over the past week in prayers for Israel I have fallen short. Not due to any lack of my conditioned spring loaded readiness to jump instantly into position. There was something missing. Something was not connecting.

I prayed for the obvious and warred here and there, but there was something flat. It felt that every different way I would turn I could not enter in. Walls went up. Finally, over the past two days I held out my heart to Him and asked Jesus why.

Later on that afternoon the story in Joshua 5:13-17 came into my mind. It is the story about the Pre-incarnate Christ who had appeared to Joshua with a drawn sword in His hand. Joshua asked Him, "Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?"

He answered, "Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come." In other words, "I am come to take over." This war in Israel is a "War of the LORD." Christ is defending it for His own sake. The man with the drawn sword was the sign of victory after Joshua and the Israelites crossed the Jordan.

Now He stands forth to lead them with the drawn sword until the end of time. And that Man is Jesus Christ the Victor and Savior of Israel.

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war."
~ Revelation 19:11 - John the Revelator
