Congressman Don Bacon (R- NE), Is At The Center Of The Battle For The Next Speaker Of The House.

Bacon is accused of being one of a handful of Republicans who would consider voting for Democrat Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker over Republican Jim Jordan.

Bacon in a recent interview protested at the way that former Speaker Kevin McCarthy was removed.

"You can't have five, lately, it's been eight out of 222 making demands that everybody else has to comply with their wishes. I'm not prepared to do that," Bacon told KETV.

"I don't think Jim is the best fit for this district. If he won fairly, I'd support him. I'm not into an unfair process when 1 out of 10 is playing unfairly and breaking the rules to demand what they're getting."

Jordan chairs the House Judiciary Committee and has the nomination of the Republican caucus, but he currently lacks the necessary number of votes to become speaker due to holdouts like Don Bacon.
