Emphasizing human wisdom, human ability, and human desires leads people away from obeying and glorifying God. The result is pride, strife, and division like the Corinthians experienced. This is true when we exalt preachers, when we follow man-made doctrines, or when we pursue riches, power, and material gain. Did the apostles seek material wealth and earthly honor, or did they sacrifice in order to follow the will of Christ? Are we following their example?
