#Nicaragua Announces Major #Infrastructure Projects | Punto Huete Airport | New #Railroad to Granada

Vlog 12 October 2023 | Thanks to some big investment from China's Belts and Roads Initiative, Nicaragua is finally returning to the railroad era with the rebuilding of the classic "Eastern Division" railroad from Managua to Granada passing through Masaya. There is a study underway to see if the old Western Division (Corinto to Managua) can be restored AND extended all the way to Bluefields on the Caribbean Coast, something that never existed previously. An upgrade to the small #airport at Punto Huete is also underway to give us a second international airport and service the northern cities like #Matagalpa #Esteli #Jinotega #Chinandega possibly Leon and Ocotal.

This just after the first half of 500 new buses has arrived last week. And of course the Pacific Coast Highway project is underway. But the Nicaragua Canal is still a pipe dream and let's hope, for Nicaragua's sake, that it stays that way. #nicaraguacanal
