Text: 1John 2:28, 3:21, 5:14

Objective: that the brethren have confidence in the Lord and His work

Intro:
Define – Confidence, Trust, Shame, ashame/d, Condemnation
Sample of Shameful situations – (verses ashamed)

Why and How to Avoid Shameful Situations and Have Confidence on your side:
1. Avoid Things that can Cause Condemnation - 1John 3:21
a. “Heart condemn us not” – heart – sincerity, conscience
b. Know and Do God’s will – what’s right and wrong, doctrine
c. Why: Condemnation will take away our confidence
2. Be Consistent in the Work of the Lord – 1John 2:28
a. Abide – dwell – Stay in God’s will
b. Attendance – church, pray, bible reading, soulwinning
c. He promised to return, and He knows everything – how then should we be?
d. Why: It is shameful if you’re not worthy when the Lord comes
3. Have Your Confidence and Trust in the Lord - 1John 5:14
a. “…that we have in Him”
b. Trust / confidence have limitation, but does the Lord have limitation?
i. “ask anything”
c. Why: Our prayers will not be heard.

Message/conclusion:

Let us have confidence in the Lord and His work
