This recipe is truly easy and simple making it a perfect recipe for beginners (or for those who don't make frosting very often and get a little rusty in between times)!
In no time at all you can have a homemade and delicious frosting for your cakes and cupcakes.
This recipe is based off of the delicious frosting recipe from Natasha's Kitchen. I love her channel and her recipes! Go check her out on Youtube if you haven't already. Also, visit her website at natashaskitchen.com to print the recipes. I did tweak this recipe because I either didn't have all the ingredients or didn't have enough of an ingredient and it worked out well for me.
Here's the recipe and the tweaks I had to make:
1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened (room temp)
***I used salted butter***
8 oz cream cheese, softened (room temp)
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
***I used 1 tsp vanilla flavoring and 2 tsp almond extract***
1/8 tsp salt (may not want to use all of this is you used salted butter)
4 cups powdered sugar

Put butter in mixing bowl. Using a stand mixer (kitchenAid Mixer: https://amzn.to/3rTTVMy)
does make it easier but it can be done with a hand held electric mixer as well. Beat butter on low speed until smooth and creamy then beat on high speed for about 1 minute until the butter is lighter in color.

Beat in cream cheese until combined nicely with the butter. You will have to scrape down the sides to make sure they combine nicely.

Beat in vanilla extract (or, in my case, vanilla flavoring and almond extract)

Add powdered sugar 1 cup at a time. Mix each cup on low speed. You may want to do a taste test to make sure that you do want to add all of the 4 cups or possibly add a little more. I did use all 4 cups. Once the powdered sugar is mixed in well, beat on high speed for 2 or 3 minutes until it is whipped, thick, and spreadable. Don't forget to scrape down the sides of the bowl to make sure everything gets mixed in really well.

Thanks for watching! I hope you add this recipe to your cooking arsenal!
See ya next time,
