Huge mysterious explosion and flash of light is caught on CCTV in Melbourne.

A huge blast has rocked the northern suburbs of Melbourne, with video showing a flash of light just before 9pm.

Residents in the Doreen and Mernda area who heard the explosion claimed it may have been a meteorite.

Home surveillance footage shows a man in his drive way startled by the loud bang.

'That was f***ing loud, our whole house shook,' one person posted online.

'Maybe a meteorite?'

Another wrote: 'Ok, massive explosion wasn't how I expected tonight to go! What in the world was that?!'
