NOW CLOSED - winner wil be announced in a video premiering Saturday 26th June 2021.

Thank you so much for all your support for Gold Puffin! There's a brickfilm contest starting today (7th April 2021), so check out the details and get ready to enter your Lego stop motion animation!

I explain the details in the video, but the full rules are below.

Gold Puffin 50K Brickfilm Contest Rules
1. DATES: The contest is open from 7th April 2021 to 27th May 2021. To take part you need to enter by the end of 27th May 2021, which means midnight UK time on 27th May. Your entry should be a new video, not a video uploaded before 7th April. (I can’t stop you from deleting an old video and re-uploading it. You won’t be disqualified if you do that, but I would really prefer if you make a new video).
2. PRIZE: The prize is a $50 Lego set (50 US dollars), plus a place in the Gold Puffin Hall of Fame and a place on my featured channels list. You can choose smaller sets to a total value of $50. The set(s) must be available to purchase at that price at the time the winner is announced. Whatever country you live in, I will arrange for the prize to reach you somehow! The prize is only for the winner. There is no prize for second place.
3. SUBMITTING YOUR VIDEO: You should submit your entry either by uploading it to your YouTube channel and putting a link to it on this video, or by emailing the video link or video file to goldpuffinlegoanimation@gmail.com. If you are commenting a link to your video please make sure you put it in a NEW COMMENT ON THIS VIDEO. If you put it in a reply or on another video it is very likely that I will not see your comment. I will put a heart on your comment and reply to it, and I will comment on your animation if the comments are turned on so that you can know for certain that I have seen it.
4. BRICKFILM: This is a brickfilm contest, and this means that it must include Lego (or another brand of bricks that is similar to Lego) as a significant portion of your animation. You can use other elements, such as clay, cardboard, sand, etc. so long as the Lego is a significant part of it. (E.g. using Lego builds, minifigures, or characters built out of Lego.)
5. STOP MOTION: As this is a brickfilm contest, your video should be made using stop motion animation i.e. through taking photographs of Lego that are sequenced to give the illusion of movement. You can use computer generated graphics and live action in your video, but a significant portion of your video (i.e. at least half) should be stop motion.
6. THEME: There are three themes to choose from: 1. Freedom; 2. Friendship; 3. Failure. You need to use one of these themes, but you do not need to use more than one. If you want to mention the theme in your
7. FIFTY: You should include the number 50 in your video in some way. It can be as simple as one of your characters living at house number 50, or you can think of a really creative way to include it if you want.
8. LENGTH: There is no maximum or minimum length for your video. The recommended length is between 30 seconds and 3 minutes.
9. ONE ENTRY: One entry is allowed per person / per channel. (If you have lots of channels please just enter with one of them. If you have your own channel and another one which you do with someone else you can enter with both if you want).
10. COLLAB: You can collaborate with another person / channel. However, there will be only one prize, so please agree how you will share the prize before entering just in case you do win the contest.
11. PREVIOUS WINNERS: Previous winners of Gold Puffin stop motion contests can enter, but they will not be considered for a place in the top 10. Instead they will receive an honourable mention.
12. SHOWING YOUR VIDEO: I plan to show clips of the top 10 videos, to show clips of some honourable mentions, and maybe even a couple of seconds of all the entries. Please only enter if you are happy for your video to be featured on my channel.
13. MUSIC: Please only use royalty free music. Don’t use copyrighted music. You can compose and record your own music, find royalty free music in the YouTube audio library, or get royalty free music from other websites or channels.
14. CONTENT: Your video should be appropriate for Gold Puffin viewers to watch. Violence and very mild bad language is permitted but you should not include extreme gore, torture, swearing, or anything hateful, distasteful or offensive.
15. Entries will be judged on all aspects of the quality of the animation, including the sound as well as the visuals, and on the video idea or story, including originality and the characters and voices.
16. The winner of the contest will be announced on Saturday 12th June.
