I'd start sniveling, and my dad would offer to give me something to cry for. I learned not to cry, especially to get my way. I learned not to be vulnerable and then I chose not to be vulnerable. I chose not to be a victim or to blame others for shish I do. I don't seek nor expect saviors to rescue me in the nick of time. I had no other choice but to become indestructible.
Vulnerability has been weaponized and now there's a competition of who can be the biggest victim. Who can screeee the loudest and longest and who can break into tears over the tiniest and most inane reasons. This is a revisit, but watch again with new eyes. Perhaps with eyes that are watching what THEY are up to.
