Making your own Chinese Take Out Sweet and Sour Sauce made at home is easy, come see. Don't let the fact there are 7 ingredients to this seem like it is hard. It takes less than 30 minutes to make, and most times 20 minutes or less. Since there are no preservatives or added coloring, it is healthier than store bought or most likely what's in the restaurants too. Come on over and have a watch with me.

INGREDIENTS

2 cup canned pineapple juice
1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2/3 cup rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
6 tablespoons ketchup
4 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari

For the Cornstarch Slurry:
1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons water

INSTRUCTIONS

Place all the ingredients, except for the cornstarch slurry, in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and simmer for another minute until thickened, stirring constantly.

Let the sauce cool completely and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.
