The Kingdom of God is a Party!

"The Kingdom of God is like a party”, says Jesus, but what kind of party is it? Is it the sort of party I used to throw for my kids when they were little, featuring jumping castles, face paintings, and Ariel the Little Mermaid, or is it more like the dinner party I once attended at Bishop’s Court where you need to be rather careful with your words and make sure you pass the port in the right direction? The party Jesus talks about in our Gospel today has a disturbing and violent edge to it. Are we sure we want to attend this party?
