100 Shekels of silver or stoning at the doorstep: Deuteronomy 22 on adultery.

A reminder of a dark part of history - Deuteronomy 22:13-22 outlined stoning as an appropriate punishment for wives found to be unfaithful during the betrothal period. If charges against an unfaithful spouse proved false, a husband was subject to a fine of 100 shekels of silver for slander.
