The water level of Lake Titicaca has reached a historic low due to a severe heatwave that has been affecting the area. Known as the highest navigable lake in the world and South America's largest, Titicaca was seen completely dry in some lagoons, such as Laguna Colorada, near the Peru-Bolivia border.
The mayor of Lampa province has expressed deep concern over the state of the lagoon, saying it has historically formed part of the ecosystem of Lampa and was a home to various birds and animals, and now hasn’t got a single drop of water.
