This is a great new lesson of the Doja Cat song, "Paint the Town Red." This uses the D Minor 7 and E Minor 7 chords, and we'll be able to solo over these scales with ease just by learning a little bit of music theory. If you listen to the actual song, you can hear the melody line, and if you take the melody line and break it down and rearrange the notes, you can start creating some unique and interesting phrasing that can complement the original song but also allows you to go in wholly original directions. We'll take some time to explore different scales and see what works best over this song. Exploring different guitar scales allows us to experiment with different sounds, opening the door for us to different emotions when we're playing guitar. Oftentimes, scales are relative to one another, which will allow you to use more than one scale when you're improvising a guitar solo over a music track. We'll also use the melody line of this song to help us find some useful arpeggio shapes that can also be applied all over the fretboard. This opens ups possibilities for sweep picking, shredding, jazz playing, and many other musical genres. Keep in mind, there are only so many notes that can fit in any scale, but there are almost endless combinations of notes and how you play them. Your creativity can be limitless, and unlocking the fretboard more and more with each lesson will allow you to explore your creativity that much more! In the Doja Cat song, we'll take a look at a few different shapes and break down how they would work in this particular song, but once you understand the circular nature of scale shapes and the fretboard itself, you'll be able to move shapes all over the place and play and improvise over any song in any key, anytime! Check out this great lesson, and don't forget there are lessons on my channel each week. Feel free to reach out to me if you have a recommendation and I'll try to get to it.
