Catching 22

Crawling on a straight white line in circles
There’s a light at the end, so the dusk can begin
Living on the edge now a cautious little man
As the sunsets, the nights raise suspicions in my head
Like all things change?

How can I be sure if this is true?
Tomorrow’s another chance to be cruel—catch 22
And how can I have faith in this notion
For all my life I see is your illusion or a switcheroo

Shuffling off the river beds into the ocean
There’s a ship at the end that’s gonna sink someday
Moving through the days, weeks, months, years, semicentennial
They say there’s hope at the end
Then the sleight of hand begins
Like the sun rise
then the rain sets the tone of our todays

So how can I be sure if you’ll bloom—catch 22
Tomorrow’s another day you go through, just the usual
If all your life’s a sugar to coat—run-of-the-mills,
when all you’ve known is just mirrors and smokes
I’m cynical

Coursing through the faceless minds in cycles
Is there a light for every flesh?
