Jenin Battalion is a recently established Palestinian armed group aiming to counter Israeli military operations in the West Bank.

One of its members, Fighter Abu Aseel (pseudonym), provides a glimpse into Jenin and the unit's efforts to prepare for the defense of the city in the event of future Israeli incursions.

In the impoverished refugee camp, like many other young men, Abu Aseel believes that he had no choice but to take up arms due to the prolonged history of violence and oppression against his community.

The rise in violence has coincided with the formation of Israel's new far-right government, which has led to frequent military operations in the West Bank.
