James W. Mosely, bitten by the #flyingsaucer #bug in 1953, traveled the USA to investigate #UFOcases and meet researchers for a book he intended to write on the #phenomenon. He later launched Saucer News (originally titled Nexus), a wild and pioneering #UFO #zine that operated from 1954 to 1972. Now, a large collection of the issues can be viewed online in the archives of journalist #FrankScully, author of Behind the Flying Saucers, whose papers are now held at the University of Wyoming.

Founded in July 1954 by Moseley with August Roberts and Dominic Lucchesi, #SaucerNews was known for its freewheeling, #iconoclastic, personal style. The magazine featured feature articles, a summary of #UFOsightings and related news, gossip and rumor roundups, photos, cartoons, listings of saucer clubs and conventions, book reviews, and letters from readers, often prominent figures in the saucer community.

The Saucer News Non-Scheduled #Newsletter is included in the collections linked below but not yet listed. Moseley hyped the newsletter as often containing "material that we consider 'too hot to handle' in the regularly-scheduled issues of our magazine." | #ufotwitter #ufox https://boingboing.net/2023/10/05/saucer-news-archives-of-the-historic-ufo-magazine-now-available-online.html
