The House of Representatives failed to elect a new speaker after Republicans held a divided vote that favored Congressman Steve Scalise over Jim Jordan. The vote was so close that it doesn’t look likely that Scalise will end up with the job. And instead of another embarrassing vote, the House left town.

U.S. officials believe that Egypt warned Israel about the attack by Hamas, and that Tel Aviv did not act. It could lead to the eventual ouster of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanhahu.

We have bad news for wine lovers. The pretty spotted lanternfly, a bug from Asia, is being blamed for the destruction of vineyards. Officials are scrambling to find a way to kill it before it spreads beyond the 15 states it is in.
