In France, up to 7 thousand soldiers are mobilized after an attack on a school

French President Emmanuel Macron, after a security meeting, decided to mobilize up to seven thousand soldiers of the Sentinelle forces. The reason for this was an attack on a school in the city of Arras, which led to the death of a teacher, the Elysee Palace reported. The forces will be mobilized by Monday evening for an indefinite period.

The Prime Minister's Office previously reported that the country had introduced the maximum level of terrorist threat.

The incident occurred on October 13. A 20-year-old man with a knife attacked staff at the Gambetta Lyceum in Arras. He managed to kill the teacher and wound three more people. He was detained.

It is known that the man is on the list of radical Islamists who are being monitored to prevent terrorist attacks. His name is also included in the list of persons posing a threat to state security.

There is information that his brother was detained at another school at the same time. He was previously tried for publishing online materials from the Islamic State (the organization is banned in Russia). The publication's source reports that the brothers, natives of Ingushetia, were seeking political asylum in France.
