Christian Bale Appreciated Shaving His Eyebrows And His Head For His Role In 'Vice', Here's Why

Christian Bale is the type of actor who totally commits to a role. To play Dick Cheney in the biopic, Vice, he completely shaved his head and eyebrows. A move that the actor said helped him dive right into the role.

Christian said he wanted to be a “blank canvas” for the makeup and prosthetics team working on 2018’s Vice. So he felt it was necessary to get rid of all the hair on his head. The transformation from Christian Bale to Dick Cheney took months of prep, hundreds of pieces of silicone, and hours and hours in the makeup chair. The team wanted the actor to completely disappear into the role. Christian is no stranger to dramatic physical changes for roles, especially when it comes to gaining and losing lots of weight. But, as he’s gotten older, Christian has decided it’s probably not a good idea to continue with these methods. We can’t say we blame him!

It looks like Christian Bale’s drastic transformation paid off; his performance as Dick Cheney won a Golden Globe for Best Actor, and the film won an Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
