Removing Plasticizer fixing sticky toys

Many older toys become sticky over the years. If you run in to a figure with a tacky sticky surface give this a try to clean it up and smooth out the surface. First a wash with warm soap and water. There is no need to scrub the parts just wipe them off. Then a rinse with clean water. Next dry off the piece completely. Finally dab the sticky surface with packing tape. the initial wash will remove some of the tacky Plasticizer. The second wash will take the soap and water off. Drying the piece keeps the tape from slipping off after the wash. As you dab the tape on the pieces you will see the slime accumulate on the tape. It may take several minutes of dabbing the tape on to the surface of the object to remove all of the stickyness. You will want to replace the tape as it accumulates more of the slime from the figure. This works great on plastic and rubber surfaces that have become sticky. You may not want to use this method with painted parts. The tape may remove paint from the surface as well as the tackyness. If you run across this issue I hope this video helped. Thank you for watching. Take it easy.
