Several saplings developed nice trunk bases this season.

Instead of propping up my saplings, or cutting them early to get them to ramify, I like to make sure that they're well potted and let them grow tall and out for as long as possible. That puts additional stress on the trunk, and they get thicker a lot faster. Many of them naturally develop very interesting shapes as well; which I absolutely love.
