Sam Levinsons “The Idol” has sparked huge controversy since the show was aired on HBO, mainly because of its dark and twisted scenes involving Lily Rose-Depp and The Weeknd, but are people missing a deeper meaning hidden within this show?

Many people are outraged at the humiliating and degrading scenes in this show depicting a young starlett (Played by Lily Rose-Depp), who seems to be taken advantage of by not only her new found boyfriend/cult leader/manager… but also her record label.

Are people angry because they’re sick of seeing toxic behaviour being normalised… or are they angry because it exposes a truth that is much darker than many could imagine?

Is “The Idol” based on a true story?
