William Worrall Mayo (b. May 31, 1819, near Manchester, Eng.—d. March 6, 1911, Rochester, Minn., U.S.) was the father of the doctors Mayo who developed a large-scale practice of medicine.
William James Mayo and Charles Horace Mayo were American physicians and brothers who founded the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, along with their father William Worrall Mayo. They were both Christians and their faith played a significant role in their lives. The Mayo brothers believed that their medical practice was a way to serve God and help others. This is just another great story of the Christian heritage of our Constitutional Republic and how the legacy lives on today. Like them, be thankful to God through Jesus Christ for His grace in health and healing.
