A man was critically injured Wednesday night after he was shot by officers after he threatened officers and showed what appeared to be a handgun, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
JSO said it got a call around 6:30 p.m. for an armed suicide threat on Bartram Circle West which is not far from the Publix at the corner of Atlantic Boulevard and Bartram Road.

Officers said they found erratic videos from a man named, Vincent Paul Palmero. Some of the videos talked about suicide by cop.
JSO said officers tried to talk to him through a PA system and he exited the home with what looked like a handgun, JSO said, and officers then fired 15 times. JSO detectives later determined it to be an airsoft handgun.

The man, who was struck, went back inside where they continued to try and talk to him over the PA system.
Eventually, they got him out and they started rendering aid. He was brought to a local hospital and he’s listed in critical condition but he’s expected to survive, JSO said.
JSO said it was the 11th officer-involved shooting this year.
