IN THE HOLLOWS OF MY MIND

I see the jester turn the court upside down
I see the tragic clown bring the house down
Oh, I laugh and I cry and I laugh again
And I wonder, once more, how it’s all gonna end

I see the fool of fame, a parody of himself
I see the kind and the cruel between me and myself
I hear them say, “today’s the best time to be alive”
And I wonder, is there a best time to be in my mind?

Another drop of blood, another sacrifice
Another bead of sweat in the ocean of time
Another tear unburdens my sunken eyes
Another song to be forgotten in the hollows of my mind

I’m all outta luck on the edge of the abyss
I can’t contain my laughter on a day like this
So I throw to the wind, all my truth and lies
And observe my mind from clear blue skies

What is as it seems though yet still a dream?
Is this life a riddle God might post in a meme?
What is night without day and darkness without light?
What is heaven without hell and love without a fight?
