You just got to love parrots! Sure, they are some of the most high maintenance pets to have, other than the walking and grooming and scooping after them… But they love to be loved and can even same some meaningful conversation with you!

This parrot might not be a public speaker anytime soon, but he sure loves his Mexican folk songs! The green Amazon parrot is sitting perched on his branch outside, when his owner starts singing:

“La cucaracha, la cucaracha
ya no puede caminar…”

The bird goes wide eyed when the tune begins and instantly jumps in. With both his owners, they make one splendid musical group! In the spirit of Mexican folk music, the bird sings the first two verses over and over while dancing around on the branch. It only lacks a colorful sombrero to make the picture complete!

The origins of "La Cucaracha" are obscure. The refrain's lyrics make no explicit reference to historical events; it is difficult, if not impossible to date. Because verses are improvised according to the needs of the moment, however, they often enable a rough estimate of their age by mentioning contemporary social or political conditions, or referring to specific current or past events.
