Haunted Castle Playthrough | Castlevania Arcade | Konami collection

This is the not so well known arcade version of Castlevania. It’s incredibly hard, like all arcade games designed to steal your money. The worst thing is that you can’t just keep pumping credits in. You are only allowed 3 credits. If you put more money in, you still have to start from the beginning. I tried to do this without save states but because of the 3 credits rule, I did not have the patience. I had one night to complete it so I used save states – which was a pain to edit so the run didn’t look like a mess.
I really had to save a lot because it’s so easy to get hit and ruin the entire run. You can also ruin the run if you don’t get the hidden weapon upgrades along the way. Some enemies take way too many hits if you have a weak weapon. Also, you need to keep hold of the Cross sub-weapon as it’s really overpowered and makes the bosses easy.
The graphics are good and the enemy designs are great.
This game was re-released on Konami Arcade collection on Switch so this is the version I played. It has a great CRT effect.
