Under the guise of "helping him get back on his feet," it is alleged by Davis' family that Kruger was hooking him up with drugs and having an ongoing sexual relationship. This had been going on for years, at least since Davis was 15.

Compound that with Kruger's HIV positive status and you have a clear motive. If you weren't sympathetic because of the man's politics being his downfall, you can certainly shed any guilt with this new information coming to light (that is corroborated with evidence on Kruger's phone).
