Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has been fined once again for defying a police order during a climate protest in Malmo, Sweden, on July 24. This marks the second time in three months that she has faced a conviction and a fine for the same offense. The court ordered Thunberg to pay a fine of 4,500 Swedish crowns ($414) for her refusal to leave the protest site, despite police orders to disperse. On the same day, she had already been fined 1,500 Swedish crowns for a similar offense. In response to the verdict, Thunberg emphasized the urgent need to address environmental issues and expressed her concerns about the future being jeopardized by climate change and corporate greed. Failure to comply with a police order in Sweden can result in a maximum prison sentence of six months. The ongoing climate activism and legal challenges faced by Thunberg continue to draw attention to the urgency of climate action
