Federal Appeals Court Rules Idaho Abortion Ban Can Go Into Effect

A federal appeals court has ruled that Idaho's abortion ban may go into full effect, overturning a narrowly blocked enforcement in emergency situations. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the state and the state's legislature in lifting the partial injunction on the abortion ban amid a challenge by the US Department of Justice.

The US Department of Justice is suing over a lack of exemption in the law to protect the health of the mother. The abortion law includes exemptions under certain circumstances for r@p, incest, and prevent the death of the mother.
