The State of Illinois passed a law in the 90s to pre-emptively ban rent control from becoming a reality in the state. Recently, state rep. Will Guzzardi's House Bill 116 passed the Housing Committee and will be brought to a floor vote very soon. UNETE La Villita, is part of the "Lift the Ban Coalition", and organized a rally on 4/10 at the Manuel Perez Jr. Plaza to advocate overturning House Bill 116. Kit Cabello also interviews UNETE La Villita spokesperson Bill Lamme regarding the crisis and advocacy efforts supporting overturning of the bill.
