NW NC at The Treehouse / Mount Mitchell elevation 6,684 feet / highest peak east of the Mississippi

40 miles up steep winding roads from our house is the Mt Mitchell summit. At 6,684 ft is the tallest peak east of the Mississippi River known as the Apex of Appalachia. The average temperature is 20 degrees cooler than our house. 67 today vs 48 at the summit. The annual average snowfall up here is 91 inches. and at The Treehouse just a short distance away at elevation 3100 ft, our annual average is 14 inches of snow.
