World Stands With Palestine, Governments Stand With Israel

Protests in solidarity with Palestine continue around the world as outrage over Israel's relentless bombing of civilian areas in Gaza grows.

Protests have been held in the UK, US, Jordan, Greece, Canada, Australia, Nigeria and elsewhere in the last 24 hours.

Showing the huge disconnect with their populations, Western governments have expressed strong support for Israel while condemning pro-Palestinian protests and ignoring Israel's destruction of Gaza which has left a massive trail of destruction of civilian and humanitarian infrastructure and killed at least 830 Palestinians, including 143 children.

Western governments have also increased their police presence and repressive measures against Palestinians and solidarity activists, warning of "Islamist terror" and comparing the actions of the Palestinian resistance to the 9/11 attacks, despite there being no connection.

Moreover, with the US inreasing its military support to Israel and the latter's attacks on resistance groups in southern Lebanon, the risk of the war escalating into a regional conflict continues to grow.
