Among many cultural and divine device found and used in Nepal; the ‘Tibetan Gong’ is one of them with its own unique characteristics.
Originated in the sixth century at the western region of China, its history is also closely tied with Tibet which is in the border of Nepal. Though the Tibetan Gong originated in the china, the credit for its development and evolution goes to Tibet and its Gurus. During ancient times, this instrument was widely used and had an important part in many religious functions, meditation etc. in Tibet. Being widely used in Tibet during its early period, we commonly address it as the ‘Tibetan Gong’. Later on, its use began to develop in neighbouring countries like Nepal, India, Bhutan and now its popularity has spread beyond the south Asian boundaries and growing popular in the other parts of the world.
The ‘Tibetan gong’ in itself has a profound character and it is characterised in many ways by various Tantric gurus from Nepal, India, Bhutan, Tibet and many other countries. Different types of gong are found in different countries around the world, each with its own influence and unique structures and textures. The character of the gong may vary throughout the world based various aspects of the region where it is made. The word ‘gong’ was originated in Indonesia and the impact of Indonesian gong has a high regard to this day.
The living and non-living things around us are continuously communicating with us and each other directly or indirectly, knowingly and unknowingly, but it depends on us on how much we hear and understand these whispers of nature. Similarly, the ‘Tibetan Gong’ also communicates with us in its own voice and its vibrations flow positive message to our body and soul to eliminate any negative vibes and thoughts from our system. Thus, we can have a very unique experience by using and feeling the vibrations of the ‘Tibetan Gong’.
