We’ve seen dogs on skateboards, dogs that walk on their back legs and dogs that can talk (sort of), but have you seen dogs that can ride the waves? The Dog Beach at Del Mar in California has been bustling with people and their dogs for one very noble cause - other than having super awesome fun, bruh!

These dogs know what they are doing! The Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon is a dog surfing competition that leaves no one behind, just like the organization it benefits to, the Helen Woodward Animal Center in Santa Fe. The competition is split into three categories: small dogs, medium dogs and large dogs competition, as well as a costume contest. Competitors are judged based on how long they stay on the ride and how stylish their ride is, imagine that!

Other than loads of food, music and a dog agility contest, this year’s 11th annual Surf-A-Thon also featured a freestyle surf contest, where judges have awarded their point to the most creative wave riders!

The funds raised from the competitors’ registration for this year’s Surf-A-Thon went to the Helen Woodward Animal Center, which just came back from Houston, Texas, helping animals that have been hit by Hurricane Harvey.
