Why is it Taking a Long Time to Charge Biden?

Hunter Biden was charged with a crime of lying on the 4473 gun background check. He was admittedly smoking dope when he bought a pistol and filled out his background check and said he was not addicted to drugs. But it took such a long time to bring charges against Hunter that it seems like it was because he was a Biden. AND he was offered a super sweetheart deal but the judge denied to sign off on it and thats when things really turned sour for Hunter.
