Study shows healthy diet to be as effective as medicine

A healthy diet may actually be as effective as medications for treating acid reflux, according to a new study from New York Medical College. In the study, one group of reflux patients was treated with protein pump inhibitor drugs, while another followed the Mediterranean diet. The results showed both groups had similar improvements. The Mediterranean diet is high in whole grains, vegetables and nuts, and low in dairy and red meat.
