The SBU exposed a Russian agent who pretended to be a rescuer
The SBU exposed a Russian agent who pretended to be a rescuer in order to correct enemy strikes on Odesa
The counter-intelligence of the Security Service detained another agent of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation (known as Gru) as a result of a multi-stage special operation in Odessa. He corrected Russian air attacks on the city and scouted the locations of the Defense Forces in the region.
To mask his criminal activity, the perpetrator joined the ranks of the local volunteer rescue squad.
It was established that under the guise of a rescuer, he arrived at the places of "arrivals" ostensibly to clear debris, but in fact he recorded the consequences of enemy attacks and "reported" about it to the military intelligence of the Russian Federation.
According to available data, the received intelligence was used by the occupiers to prepare new and adjust repeated strikes on Odesa.
In addition, the Russian agent performed another task - he tried to identify the combat positions of the HIMARS reactive artillery systems and the air defense systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the front-line areas of the region.
According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice turned out to be a 29-year-old resident of Odesa, who was previously a member of the local branch of the so-called "Leninist Communist Youth Union."
He was also a "liaison" of a special agent of the FSB, whom the SBU took out of Transnistria and detained in Odesa.
In May 2014, he took an active part in provocations of mass riots in the regional center.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the man subscribed to the enemy's Telegram channel, which collected information about the deployment of Ukrainian troops for Russian intelligence.
Later, the administrator of this Internet resource, who is "undercover" in one of the countries of Central Asia, contacted him and put him in "direct" contact with a representative of the game.
After the recruitment, the Odesaite received further instructions and began to carry out enemy tasks.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service notified the Russian agent of the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He is currently in custody.
The perpetrator faces life imprisonment.
