Metro Detroit Weather: Drier, cooler weekend weather

Our pattern of unseasonably cool weather continues today. Highs peak in the middle 60s. Look for bright skies with a few clouds this afternoon. The next couple of nights will bring us the rare chance to see the Northern Lights in southeast Michigan. The better chances will be after midnight. Hurricane Irma is still barrelling towards Florida. It will likely be a category 4 or 5 at landfall, which is mostly likely Sunday morning, but will start lashing Florida with outer bands Saturday night.
