Immediate Action Drill: Break Contact Front
Explanation:
0:01: Patrol is moving in a column (file ) formation.
0:04: 'Contact Front!'
Point man conducts the RTR Drill, everyone else conducts the TR drill. Patrol deploys on line, alpha team on the left, bravo team on the right.
0:07: Patrol begins to break contact to the rear, moving in alpha and bravo teams by bounds.
0:40: The creek in the illustration signifies that contact is broken and the patrol rallies, to signify that they have broken contact 'over a terrain feature.'
Normally, that would be the end of the drill, accountability would be taken and the patrol would 'bug out.'
0:47: Enemy follows up aggressively. The rally point also functions as a hasty ambush, which is triggered.
0:52: In this example, once the ambush has gained fire superiority, the patrol decides to peel out to the right along the creek bed, utilizing a 'peel right' maneuver.
