How did Israel not see this coming????

There’s no doubt in my mind that the footage we’re seeing out of Israel is real, unlike the footage out of Ukraine. Hamas did in fact attack Israeli civilians. The question I have though is this, HOW DID ISRAEL NOT SEE THIS COMING??
