Powerful rockets are designed to deliver heavy payloads into space or to achieve high velocities for deep-space missions. Some of the most powerful rockets in history and those in development as of my last knowledge update in September 2021 include:

1. SpaceX Falcon Heavy: The Falcon Heavy, developed by SpaceX, is one of the most powerful operational rockets. It can lift heavy payloads to both low Earth orbit (LEO) and geostationary transfer orbit (GTO).

2. NASA Space Launch System (SLS): The Space Launch System, developed by NASA, is designed for deep-space exploration missions, including crewed missions to the Moon and Mars. It is one of the most powerful rockets ever planned.

3. United Launch Alliance (ULA) Delta IV Heavy: The Delta IV Heavy is a heavy-lift launch vehicle used for a variety of payloads, including national security and scientific missions.

4. Blue Origin New Glenn: In development by Blue Origin, the New Glenn is intended to be a powerful reusable rocket capable of launching both crewed and uncrewed missions into space.

5. SpaceX Starship: SpaceX's Starship, currently in development, is envisioned as a fully reusable spacecraft with the potential to be one of the most powerful rockets ever built. It aims to carry humans to Mars and beyond.

Please note that developments in rocket technology and the status of specific rockets may have changed since my last knowledge update, so I recommend checking the latest news and sources for the most up-to-date information on powerful rockets.
