"Is Serbia the target of some enemies in the West? - yes, that is a fact, there is no need to give more proofs for this, this is simply a fact, to be honest I simply don't understand. Just as Russia in the early 90s was ready to do anything to build relations with Western countries after the collapse of the Soviet Union, believing that times have radically changed, to make almost any sacrifice. And what did we get? Support for separatism and terrorism in the Caucasus. Directly at that. Politic, informational, even military one. At that time I was a director of FSB and I observed it all with amazement. Why? Are we not all together now? Why do that? But they did all that without hesitation. There was no answer, honestly speaking there isn't one today either. I suppose that its some kind of lack of education or the like or lack of understanding of tendencies, lack of understanding of how the world is organized, how Russia is organized, where it can lead to. When you simply want to forcefully break, break, break someone, nothing but force. Sanctions are also force, just in a different form, without wish to look for compromise. And those shouts that I talked about: You have to, you are obliged,we warn you! it is also force and an attempt to use the element of force. Its the same, all boils down to it. Towards Yugoslavia and Serbia both, first it was towards Yugoslavia then Serbia, why? Serbia was also ready for anything, wanted to have a deal about anything. No, we must break,we must break! I heard that many times. "It should be broken, its a weak spot, thats the philosophy. Why Serbs must be the ones to break? Honestly speaking I don't know. Moreover, when there were some open conversations, when I still had normal relationship with certain leaders, when they were telling me: We must break! I asked: But why? There was no answer. Simply such a philosophy was set, a paradigm, everything must be solved like that - to break. But Serbs are not such people. History is not the same, culture is not the same.
You know, I will tell you a hard thing: You can destroy, but you cannot break Serbs nor subdue. They also do not understand that. But I hope that they will sooner or later understand that component too both in European politics and in the world as a whole, then they will understand that it is after all more constructive to have a deal and not that its being solved so that someone has to be broken"
