Does A 3 Wire Alternator Need A 470 Ω Resistor If You Install A Voltmeter? 194 Incan or LED? Diode?

What is the resistance of a Voltmeter? If you run a 470 Ω resistor with a voltmeter is that too much resistance? Always install a diode no matter what to stop feedback/run on. Mega fuses all over everything! The 194 incandescent indicator lamp is good but if you run a LED alone (no voltmeter) you may need the 470 Ω resistor but both a resistor and voltmeter gauge may be too much? Installed Mega fuses on the main battery cable, secondary load lines and at the alternator. If one had too much resistance the warning lamp may glow a bit to brightly but then again you can burn up the alternator if you don't have enough...
