The Zo’é people are a native tribe that live in the state of Pará, in the Brazilian Amazon. They are part of the Tupi-Guarani linguistic family and have a distinctive culture that includes wearing wooden plugs in their lower lips, practicing polyandry, and having complex marriage rituals. They were contacted by evangelical missionaries and Funai agents in the 1980s, after living in isolation for a long time. They are one of the last intact peoples of the Amazon and face many challenges to preserve their way of life. You can learn more about them by watching this documentary
