How is it acceptable to affirm something that is statistically proven to cause harmful physical and mental health consequences down the line?

We don’t affirm people who have alcohol or substance addiction. Instead, we acknowledge they are suffering and need help.

So, why do we affirm people who are suffering from gender dysphoria?
