Everyone can agree that sloths are one of the most adorable species on Earth. They are furry and toddler-sized and incredibly cuddly. What’s not to love about that? If they were rated by huggability, they would win the first prize every time.

Apart from sleeping for long hours of the day, sloths are in constant need to wrap themselves around something. Their need to constrict the life out of the thing they are hugging can sometimes get them into a whole lot of trouble. This is the case with this little sloth that mistook a grey concrete telephone pole for a tree.

The firefighters called to help on this case had a lot of fun prying this little cuddler away from a telephone pole near the Manuel Antonio National Park in Costa Rica. It had a lot of fun wrapping itself around the telephone pole, and then once again around the ladder the firefighters used to help get him down. Wriggling his claws one by one, the helpers couldn’t get it to loosen its hold on the ladder, which is only understandable because this little guy was terrified and seeking comfort. Lucky for him, it was extracted and led to the wilderness, where he can roam around the giant trees, and of course, sleep his days away. So precious!
